A village may consist of one primary school feeding to a secondary school in a different location. Therefore the village school may be linked directly to the village club. Duncombe Park CC uses the following example.
There is 1 primary school
There is 1 secondary school (12 miles away in a small town)
The YCDO carries out primary school visits
The YCDO arranges a primary school INSET Course
The YCDO links with the Local Education Authority TOP’s Support Officer and the Club
A Primary “After School” Club is held on the school site, run by the YCDO and the Club coach
The “After school” club is transferred to the club site (within 4 weeks)
The Club runs a Kwik Cricket Skills Awards
Schools link players to the club
The Club ground is used for summer practice and coaching
Club personnel attend coach education course
When the children leave the village primary school to attend a town secondary school, they often link with the club based within the town. This is often an area where village clubs lose junior players.
